Westland Nurseries, a well-known name in the Australian nursery industry, is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Retail Nursery Manager to oversee our dynamic retail operation at Seven Mile Beach. Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the daily operations of the retail nursery, ensuring smooth and efficient processes.

  • 5 team members, weekly rostering to business requirements.

  • Lead and motivate a high-performing team to achieve business goals.

  • Drive sales and enhance customer satisfaction through exceptional service.

  • Maintain high standards of plant care, health, and presentation.

  • Collaborate with our sales and operations managers to source and procure quality plants.

To Be Successful, You Will Need:

  • Strong knowledge of horticulture and plant care, with an understanding of Tasmanian plants being a bonus.

  • Proven experience in retail nursery management.

  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills.

  • A positive, enthusiastic attitude and a proactive approach.

Plant Presentation Team Member

Key Performance Expectations

  • Duty of care to yourself and other team members through strict adherence to all OH&S policies and procedures.

  • The ability to accept directions from Managers/Directors.

  • Successful and efficient completion of all tasks as requested by Managers/Directors.

  • To assist when required in all aspects of routine nursery maintenance including assistance in watering, weeding, stock movement, picking orders, maintenance of plants and infrastructure, and manual loading of trucks.

  • Provide feedback to managers on hazards, weeds, pests or disease outbreaks.

  • Appropriate care and maintenance of equipment used – trolleys, trailers, carts, etc.

  • The ability to work in all areas of the nursery.

Key Tasks

  •    To present plants beautifully for our treasured customers by:

• Cleaning all weeds/moss from the top of the soil
• Topping up plants with soil if required
• Removing spent flowers
• Removing yellowing foliage as required
• Labelling plants with push-ins, tie-ons, or with label stakes as directed
• Barcoding or price pointing plants were required for specific customers
• Checking labels against barcodes to ensure correct labelling, which will help develop your plant knowledge

  • Placing plants back in trays and being willing to help with the loading of trolleys when required.

  • At the end of the day, cleaning up carts, emptying or consolidating weed bins, and sweeping floors as requested.

  • Sharing knowledge with new team members.
